Several days after The New York Times and The Guardian's Observer broke the Cambridge Analytica Facebook scandal, I promoted an event for a client on his Facebook page. I made the post on a day and time during which Facebook receives some of its highest engagement. I included a YouTube video and several links to the Facebook pages of those mentioned in the post. The client for whom I was posting has close to the maximum number of friends Facebook allows and always receives a high level of engagement on each post, with well over 100 likes and often as many comments.
This post received one like, and zero comments.
I was blown away, and had to wonder, is Facebook dead? Or is it just licking its self-inflicted wounds, to eventually reestablish a place of prominence in the hearts of both users and investors? What do you think?
